Chairman’s Report: (Ian Searle)

The good news is that I don’t have anything specific to report on.

Thanks to everyone for coming along today. I hope everyone who has attended the racing, has enjoyed the events this season.

Thanks to the whole BMPRS membership, for continuing to support BMPRS, and to those who have raced, for supporting our race events. Thanks to our host clubs, for allowing us to use their facilities, and everyone who has otherwise supported the running of events, and helped to make sure that they run smoothly; from lapscoring, rescue boat, bringing support equipment to race venues, and a big thank you again to Mark, for organising the vast majority of the races.

Lastly, I’d like to say thanks to my colleagues on the BMPRS committee – new and longer standing members. As most will know, we have a number of new faces on the committee, who have all settled well into their respective roles, and are all keen and enthusiastic to support BMPRS; and thanks again here to Mark, for supporting and assisting the new committee members.

Health & Safety Report: (Mark Wild)

Mark was satisfied with how things have gone this year but will continue to review Health & Safety as required.

BMPRS Financial Account – 23rd November 2014

Not submitted due to problems with access to the bank account following irregularities with signatories of the account.

Andy recommended for membership to remain the same and it was discussed and agreed following a proposal of increase that membership fees should be raised for 2015 to £13 for new members and £10 renewals paid by the end of January 2015.

Rule Changes/Proposals

1. Proposed By: Mark Wild

Seconded By: Craig Dickson

For his services to model boating as an appreciation from BMPRS and its members. A prolific member who, over the years, not only with our society but others and the model boat scene in general has done a hell of a lot for people - Bernard Holder to be made lifetime honorary member.

A discussion was held and it was agreed to include Danny Bell as an honorary member.

Vote: Proposal carried by majority

2. Proposed By: Garry Dickson

Seconded By: Craig Dickson

For highest laps of the day heats that run less than the typical average for the day should have their totals adjusted up.

Example, if heats are 15 minutes (as was typical during the 2014 season) then scores from the cat classes T1 and T2 which run just 10 minute heats, should be uplifted by 50% when evaluating who gets the highest laps of the day.

Discussion took place and it was agreed to raise the T1 and T2 heats to bring them in line with all other classes.

Vote: Amended proposal carried by majority

3. Proposed By: Craig Dickson

Seconded By: Luke Bramwell

My proposal is that for this next 2015 season we increase the race entry fee by £1 irrespective of how many boats are entered in each race.

So for the avoidance of any doubt it proposes that:

1 boat entered pays £6 instead of £5.

2 boats entered pays £10 instead of £9.

3 boats entered pays £13 instead of £12

4 boats entered pays £16 instead of £15

5 boats entered pays £19 instead of £18.

The key impact on members of this proposal is that every member will have to pay only one pound extra on the day, irrespective of whether they enter one or multiple boats.

Vote: This was discussed and proposal carried by majority as part of the financial report section of the AGM.

4. Proposed By: Craig Dickson

Seconded By: Luke Bramwell

My second separate proposal is that in respect of membership for new members and renewal for existing members, we should add £1 to the existing fee.

In respect of impact on members, we are talking of 8 pennies per month throughout 2014.

Vote: This was discussed and proposal carried by majority as part of the financial report section of the AGM.

5. Proposed By: Madelyn Reid

Seconded By: Garry Dickson

Craig Dickson to take the post as PRO due to his great effort this year in keeping the news in model boats magazine up to date.

Vote: This was discussed and proposal carried by majority as part of the election of officers section of the AGM.

6. Proposed By: Mark Wild

Seconded By: Garry Dickson

Madelyn as Secretary, since taking the post in a co-opted capacity Madelyn has worked hard in the back ground with the day to day running of the society.

Vote: This was discussed and proposal carried by majority as part of the election of officers section of the AGM.

7. Proposed By: Mark Wild

That the Best Junior is better defined.

Best Junior - a junior member who has shown most improvement by means of boat control along with racing etiquette within the year as decided at the AGM voted by the members.

Discussion took place and it was decided to keep with the current accumulation of points over the year.

Vote: Proposal rejected

AOB

a) Graham Stanley discussion point- The current rules to allow multi and circuit boats to take part in BMPRS races with little or no modification. It is suggested that unless this trend is desired, the rule be amended to exclude hulls based on Multi or circuit types are not considered acceptable. The exact wording would require consideration by the committee.  The objective of the revision would be to ensure BMPRS races retain a visual an approximate resemblance to full size racing boats. A vote would be required to determine if the current trend is considered acceptable prior to the committee being asked to review the existing rules.

The committee be tasked with reviewing the rules/application of the rules to ensure BMPRS boats retain a semblance of similarity with full size offshore racing boats. The resulting rules and or policy changes to be presented at the 2015 AGM for voting. This proposal is designed to prevent the current drift towards boats of non-scale appearance, and members might wish to take note of a potential rule change or policy tightening etc. that might apply in the future. I am anxious not to alienate any members, as we obviously need to hold our current numbers or better still grow. I hope members will be advised the society might wish to see less multi etc. type boats so they do not invest in boats that may become outlawed in the future.

After discussion, it was felt there was sufficient rules already within BMPRS to stop the different type of hulls. The Committee agreed to look into the matter further if the need was felt.

b) Mark Wild discussion point - As you are all aware we have the Scoop Challenge in remembrance. I’m going to be honest, if it wasn’t for Scoop we wouldn’t be here! From day one Scoop was not only the driving force but also funded the society at the start along with so much more I could carry on telling you, so how do we show thanks? The Committee recommend the proposal of Jackie Rae (Scoop’s wife) and Nicola Rae (Scoop’s daughter) as honorary president and honorary Vice president respectively in recognition for the co-founder Stewart Rae and his commitment and hard work in forming the society. Both roles are non-executive function or role, apart from that in the event of the demise of the society to such a state it is no longer a viable option, they would carry out final closure according to the constitution and rules of BMPRS.

I feel this would keep strong ties with the family. Although we have Madelyn, I know that Jackie and Nicola would still like to keep involved in the back ground knowing how the Society is functioning and its development.

Following a small discussion it was agreed to appoint Jackie as President and Nicola as Vice President of the Society under the agreed disclosure.

c) Officer of the Day – Mark Wild

Mark asked for people to help out and become more involved as it is their Society.
